Video presentation of the exhibition 'L'Opera dei Magistri Moesani' at the Museo Moesano in San Vittore (Grisons, Switzerland).

Description of the exhibition:

On the first floor, a permanent exhibition illustrates the work of the 'Magistri moesani', architects, plasterers, and other construction workers, active above all in the German area in the 17th and 18th centuries.

The Bassa Mesolcina gave rise to veritable dynasties of builders: Albertalli, Barbieri, de Gabrieli, Riva, Zuccalli, etc. In Bavaria, architects and master builders from Mesolcina are responsible for some Baroque masterpieces, such as the Jesuit church in Dillingen, Lustheim Castle in Schleissheim Castle Park, the votive church in Freystadt, the buildings on the Residenza square in Eichstätt.

A large map of Europe shows the presence of the Magistri moesani in various countries. Iconographic panels with photos of the works, wooden models, a space illustrating the art of stucco, and a multimedia room with a database illustrate the historical importance of this phenomenon linked to the emigration of trades typical of the region.
