LA MIA PRIMA AFRICA
PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT
Photographer
Now I'm flying, it's January 31, 2020, my birthday. Who would have thought that I would have celebrated my twenty-two years flying to Africa!
To tell the truth I don't think I have yet figured out exactly what is going on, I get carried away and see what fate offers me. I am flying over the desert, the pilot warns us that he will soon land, my adventure is really starting, it is not just a dream.
We spend several hours in the car in the direction of Sefwi Wiawso, a district of the Western Region of Ghana. The markets of each city run fast and colorful out of the window. Women and men of all ages carry heavy baskets on their heads, walking precisely on rough terrain without losing their balance for even a second. Radiant children laugh jokingly seeing us go fast with our fair skin. I start to photograph new faces, deep looks that tell hard and happy stories.
Every look at the world around me seems like a new dream. The warm smell of the sun wakes me up every morning at dawn, always accompanied by the concert of the birds of the forest. Small coloured feathers are scrolled on the few electrical cables pulled from one pole to another, some lizards are already warming up to the first light beam that invades the square. A new day begins in the black continent and who knows which faces will meet my gaze and tell me stories today.
